DSM Demolition Ltd is proud to be appointed by Leicester City Council and EC Harris as Principal Contractor to carry out the demolition works of the City Council’s Head Quarters on New Walk, Leicester.

New Walk Centre is at the heart of Leicester and comprises of two tower blocks which were identified for demolition following an inspection of the buildings which recognised structural concerns making them unsafe for occupation.

The site is due to be vacated by July 2014 when we will take possession and commence enabling works, investigations and impact assessments to determine the safest and most efficient method of demolition. We will work closely with the client team, the Health & Safety Executive, Police and Specialist Consultants to agree the safest and most economical method of demolition to deliver the works.

Following demolition of the buildings, 95% of the material from site will be recycled which will include the salvage and reuse of redundant fixtures and fittings and the reduction of the rubble from the buildings to create hard core, some of which will be utilised to backfill the basement area and underground car parking creating a prepared site for redevelopment.

We are delighted to be part of this exciting regeneration in the heart of Leicester.
